There are approximately 9 million Inter-continental Snow Geese in the US and the majority of those Snow Geese migrate right through the areas we hunt including Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota. Snow Goose numbers are so high that the use of electric calls, rotary machines, no-plug shotguns, and zero bag limits have been implemented by most states. Snow Geese are one of the most interesting migratory game birds as they travel from nesting grounds on the Arctic Ocean and winter as far south as Mexico. Snow Geese are classified as "grubbers" and eat plants and roots altogether when feeding. This feeding habit combined with the over population of Snow Geese has destroyed critical habitat on the northern Canadian tundra regions of Nunavut & the Northwest Territories. The Canadian and US Fish & Wildlife has made hunting snow geese legal in both a fall and spring season which allows us to hunt snow geese in our areas from December through mid April. You and your hunting partners are helping Snow Geese and the Tundra habitat by harvesting as many Snow Geese as possible.
